Trimble Spa and Natural Hot Springs

Contraindications to Hot Water Therapy:

Soaking in mineral waters should not be done at excessively high temperatures without medical clearance when any contraindicated condition exists. A tepid to warm bath (~95° F - ~99°) is as safe as taking a bath at home.

The presence of these or other metabolic conditions does not mean that there neecessarily would be no benefit from bathing in natural, hot mineral water. However, there is a risk associated that may out way the benefit of heat therapy. In such situations, you should consult with a medical doctor before bathing.

Trimble’s therapy pools contain no added chlorine. On Thursday nights, the pools are drained, walls and floor power washed to reduce the inevitable, natural algae growth, then refilled with fresh spring water. Before refilling, the walls are washed with chlorine-containing water, which is neutralized by morning.

About Our Waters

Mineral water has long been thought of as healthy to bathe in, and naturally occurring hot springs like Trimble’s have been used literally for millennia for their therapeutic effects.

It is sometimes said that mineral-rich hot springs can increase metabolism, accelerate healing, soothe muscles, improve blood circulation and detoxify the body's lymphatic system. It is also said that soaking in hot spring waters allows minerals to pass through your skin and be absorbed and utilized by body cells. This may fight the effects of fatigue, insomnia, edema, poor micro-circulation, repressed immune system and even arthritis. The hot therapy water can help to improve blood circulation, too.

Trimble Hot Springs are unique because they are the only naturally heated waters available publicly in the Animas Valley just north of Durango. The waters in our therapy pools are made rich in minerals as they percolate through the well-heated volcanic fissures that rose up to the surface ages ago.

Most people who visit Trimble enjoy the big, naturally heated pools where they can sit contentedly for an extended time, stretch out and relax. The warm temperatures are great for relaxing muscles and for generating an overall feeling of well-being … right down to the marrow.
